About the role:
As our Front End Tech Lead, we will rely on you to provide leadership and support for a team of talented engineers. We will expect you to have the expertise and experience to make sound technical decisions, and the communication skills and enthusiasm to develop and motivate a team. Working closely with other Tech Leads and Senior Developers, you will define and maintain standards, nurture innovation, and help our Product squads deliver value to our users in every release.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical guidance and set the direction for the Front End team
- Lead research and development of new technologies to create and enhance products
- Drive understanding and implementation of current best practice and coding standards
- Work with the Head of Engineering to recruit and manage the performance of team members
- Proactively collaborate with other members of the team to improve the delivery of our products
- Proactively promote and contribute to a knowledge sharing culture, mentoring others to develop their skills
- Work with others to establish business needs and requirements (including non-functional requirements)
- Be an active member in the digital community, representing the team and Connectr both internally and externally (e.g. meetups, speaking at/attending conferences on behalf of Connectr where appropriate)
Skills/Experience:
- Technical leadership; mentoring, facilitating technical discussions and setting standards and direction
- Proven experience creating performant, scalable, secure and accessible web applications
- Testing mindset with experience of delivering strategies that improve code quality
- Experience of assessing new technologies and presenting evidence-based
recommendations - Driving team learning and development by example
- Expertise in modern JavaScript Front End technologies, preferably TypeScript, React.js, Apollo & GraphQL
- Expertise in foundational Front End technologies, CSS, semantic HTML 5, and
responsive web design - Great communication skills at all levels with a user-centred approach to decision making
